Palm wax is produced by the partial or complete hydrogenation of palm oil. Palm wax is widely accepted in the candle industry as it is considered an ideal material for making candles. With a higher melting point than other waxes, it does not melt at high temperatures, it absorbs colors and fragrances well, and it also mixes well with other waxes and paraffins, giving it great versatility in shapes, aromas and textures. Palm wax also exhibits high shrinkage, which means that when cooled, it separates from the edges of the mold or machine.
Palm wax is also widely used in wax paper applications to increase impermeability and resistance to water and oils.
